NOTE: You are a transfer student if you graduated from high school in 2007 or earlier and if you have attended another college or university and will be attending KU for the first time.

The orientation programs for transfer students have been planned according to your specific needs. You will be advised about majors and course selections, enroll in your fall semester classes, and leave with a completed fall schedule. Students must have their fall semester course schedule approved by an academic advisor at orientation. Academic advising and enrollment can be completed ONLY in the afternoon.

Orientation is important to your success as a KU student, so we expect you to participate in all orientation activities. Orientation sessions build upon each other in order to prepare you for your transition to KU. Students who miss sessions may be required to return for another orientation session. Be prepared to arrive by 9:00 a.m. and stay until 5:00 p.m.

Orientation is designed for students based on major. Because we prepare individual advising information, you will only be allowed to register for a date that corresponds to your major or school. Refer to your letter of Admission, or contact the Office of Admissions & Scholarships at www.admissions.ku.edu/status, for the school to which you have been admitted. If you have not decided on a major, you have probably been admitted to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

  • Advisors from particular schools and programs will be available only on select dates.
  • Students must have their fall semester schedule approved by an academic advisor at orientation.
  • Academic advising can only be completed in the afternoon.

If you are transferring, you must send official transcripts from each institution you have attended to KU’s Office of Admissions and Scholarships. If you have fewer than 24 credit hours, you must also send a high school transcript and ACT or SAT scores. If there is not time to send a final transcript before orientation, bring a grade report or an unofficial transcript to assist in advising. Failure to supply information on all college credits completed could delay your advising and enrollment and result in inappropriate course selection.

  • In order to register for an orientation program, use your KU Online ID and password.
  • You MUST arrive at your orientation program with your KU Online ID and password. You will use it to enroll in your classes.
  • Failure to know your KU Online ID and password will result in a delay in your enrollment at orientation.
Details about the schedule of activities will be available when you register for a program.

If you absolutely cannot attend a program in June or July, you may elect to attend orientation on August 18.
